San Franciscans will remain under curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for at least two more nights after the Board of Supervisors today voted 6-5 to put off a vote on rescinding it until a special Thursday meeting. 

It will require a unanimous vote of all 11 supervisors to either curtail the curfew or extend it past Sunday. If a unanimous vote is not reached, the current curfew, instituted by Mayor London Breed on May 31, will expire on Sunday at 5 a.m. 

We ask all Japantown businesses that you give yourself and your staff enough time to close up and get home before 8pm.

Take Precautions

SFPD recommends all storefronts to remove anything of value from plain site including iPads used for payment. Check your alarm and video systems to make sure they are operating correctly. If your systems are tied into SFPD, make sure that there is a contact person designated in case a break-ins occurs.

Should a break-in occur at your business, notify SFPD immediately and get a police report. SFPD will then contact the JCBD to request footage so that it can be used to investigate and hopefully make arrests.

The Mayor’s Office of Economic Workforce Development joined with community partners to repurpose existing funds for a new COVID-19 mini-grant program focused on delivering relief to small businesses in historically underserved communities and women-owned businesses.

In Japantown, OEWD partnered with the Japantown Task Force to open the grant application. 21 small businesses were each awarded $1,000.

Grant awardees can use the funds to support expenses such as payroll, rent, and utilities, or to supplement income resulting from a direct loss of business revenue.
