The citywide curfew that Mayor London N. Breed issued on Sunday, May 31, 2020 remains in effect until further notice. The curfew requires people within the City of San Francisco to stay home from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. 

Exemptions to the curfew include:

  • Peace officers, firefighters, other City and County employees engaged in authorized emergency operations, members of the National Guard, or any other responding personnel deployed to the City and County;

  • Individuals who can establish to the satisfaction of a peace officer that they are in such place for the sole purpose of traveling to a home or workplace or to obtain medical assistance;

  • Authorized representatives of any news service, newspaper, radio or television station or network, or other media organization;

  • People experiencing homelessness.

Break-in and Looting in Japantown

RIF SF (upper Post Street) was broken into for the 2nd time last night at approximately 9:52pm. Surveillance cameras show a group of 4-5 individuals breaking into the store (which was re-boarded up after 1st break-in). Our thoughts and prayers go out to RIF SF for having to go through another devastating loss for their business.

JCBD is working on identifying Japantown SafeCity cameras that captured views of the crime and will be prepared to provide law enforcement with the video footage.

SFPD recommends all storefronts to remove anything of value from plain site including iPads used for payment. Check your alarm and video systems to make sure they are operating correctly. If your systems are tied into SFPD, make sure that there is a contact person designated in case a break-ins occurs.

Should a break-in occur at your business, notify SFPD immediately and get a police report. SFPD will then contact the JCBD to request footage so that it can be used to investigate and hopefully make arrests.
